Winter Camping

Group shelter. 14 people, 3 MSR stoves, 3 different menus. It was chaos under there!

me in the snow. the only way to stay warm was to keep hiking and moving.

Thomas and I shared the little blue tent. It was 12 degrees at night!! Brrrr. We slept in our cold weather bags, wearing all of our "oh, shit" layers, snuggling with water bottles filled with hot water.

NorthWest Service Academy

Our dorm, Tamarack, which is a converted double wide trailer. there are about 3 other dorms on campus. we alos have a garden, commons and dining hall. this is a straight up commune complete with chore charts and cooking groups.

Big trees!

NWSA!

Mt. Adams right in our backyard! This view of "Trout Lake", which is more like a marsh, is about a 10 minute walk from my dorm. It is also a Natural Area Preserve where I have seen a elk, geese, bald eagles and hawks among other tiny creatures.

My half of Gwen and I's dorm. Not the greatest picture in the world, but I assure you we have the coziest dorm!
